"Gomochi's Benefactor" is the seventieth episode of the Natsume Yuujinchou anime. It is the seventh episode of Natsume Yuujinchou Roku, which is the sixth season of the anime.

Summary

Natsume meets a youkai named Gomochi, who has come in search of Reiko. The youkai has a message for Reiko, and wants to thank her for a favor she did him long ago. In hearing his story, Natsume comes to learn more about his mysterious grandmother.

Plot

At night, Natsume Takashi is visited by a strange youkai named Gomochi who wanted to meet Natsume Reiko - Takashi's grandmother. Madara informs Gomochi that she passed on a long time back.

Gomochi then goes on to tell how Reiko affected his life - they first met when Reiko started coming to a forest everyday, where Gomochi lived. The youkai there, having heard about Reiko's powers, soon asked her for help in order to request for her assistance in calming a duel between two spirits - Hyakko and Senki - over the marriage of another lady youkai - Kibune, who has no interest in marrying either of the two, so is trapped in a cave.

Reiko, never backing down from a challenge, enters the argument, in order to free Kibune. She soon defeats the two in separate duels, based on performing some tasks, in very unique ways, using only her wits and the aid of all the other lower youkai, thus also giving the two a lesson in humility.

At the end, Gomochi reveals that he eventually fell in love with Kibune, when the two waited for years together for Reiko to return to that forest, and invites Natsume to their wedding which would be held in the next week.
