"Oh, dear. When I talk to you, I remember things I don't want to." — Ginro opening up to Takashi Natsume.

Ginro (銀露) is one of the three servants of Yousuke Takuma. She is the only servant who chose to remain in the Takuma residence after Yousuke lost his power to see them. She is aware of the existence of Book of Friends but she remained silent about it despite of being an exorcist's familiar.

Appearance[]

Ginro is a youkai that takes the form of an old woman with white hair and silver eyes. She wears a black kimono underneath her extensive gray haori. However, when she's acting as a maid in her master's residence, she covers her dress with a kappōgi instead.

Personality[]

Ginro is a very loyal and caring servant of Yousuke Takuma. Despite of the fact that her master can no longer see her, she decided to stay on his side for the rest of his life. When Takashi and Shuuichi came to the residence in response to Tsukiko's request, she felt threatened and displayed a hostile attitude as she thought they came to exorcise her. However, when Takashi was caught by a distraught Jinbe, she protected him and discouraged the agitated youkai. She is concerned that if she let a child of man be harmed on her master's property, it will become a problem for her master and his daughter. Later on, she revealed her protective nature by stating that if Jinbe and Benihimo had tried to attack Yousuke, she was going to handle them by herself. She then opened up to Takashi and asked him to perform the Ritual of Release if that is what the two familiars want— showing that she still have some affinity towards them. She was seen bowing to Takashi afterwards to express her deep gratitude in helping her master with his problem in regards to his two familiars.

History[]

Little is known about Ginro but at some point, she became one of Yousuke's familiars. It is not revealed yet if she and Reiko have some kind of connection in the past but she is aware of her and the Book of Friends she created. She was also seen to have some spite against inferior exorcists although the reason for that is still unknown.

Plot[]

Ginro was first seen acting like a resident maid when Takashi and Nyanko-sensei came in to the Takuma residence to take shelter from the rain. Despite of being "seen" by Takashi, she remained calm about it and gave him a hostile attitude instead. When Shuuichi arrived at the scene, her hostility was aggravated even further as she thought they came to exorcise her. That's why when Tsukiko and Shuuichi are busy cleaning up the mess Tsukiko made, she ambushed Takashi and warned him not to interfere. She also noted that it feels like she saw "him" somewhere and realized that he is holding something very important. She then asked him if he is the famous owner of the Book of Friends but before Takashi could answer, Shuuichi came into rescue. She diverted her attention to the exorcist and asked him if he heard the question she asked to the young man. However, the latter decided to play innocent and tried to ask for more information about it. Knowing the severity of the Book of Friends, she refused to give any information and even called him "failure of an exorcist." Annoyed, Takashi tried to attack her but she attentively avoided it and ordered them to just leave the house.

Later on, when Takashi was attacked by a frustrated Jinbe, she appeared once again to protect him as she is concerned that if he gets hurt inside of her master's residence, Yousuke and Tsukiko will have a hard time because of it. She asked him to leave in an instant but he replied by saying he is not there to exorcise her, he just want to know what's happening so he could help her and Yousuke. However, when the grandfather clock chimed, she escaped and decided to disappear into thin air.

When Yousuke went home, Tsukiko, Takashi, and Shuuichi discussed what's happening and tried to make a plan for it. Nyanko-sensei sensed that Ginro was listening and informed Takashi. He immediately ran towards her and grabbed her clothes before she could escape again. He asked what can he do to keep Yousuke and his daughter safe while preventing Jinbe and Benihimo from being exorcised. Seeing his determined eyes, she gave up and confessed that the reason why she doesn't want to talk to him was because he reminds her of the time she spent with Yousuke. She stated that if the two familiars had tried to attack her master, she was going to handle them by herself. But if they really want freedom, she asked Takashi to free them by performing the Ritual of Release. When Shuuichi came into the scene to check up on Takashi, she become alerted and decided to vanish once again.

When Takashi and Shuuichi came back, she was seen listening to the conversation of Yousuke and his daughter while watching them with loving eyes. She noticed that the they found her and asked them to be quiet. She revealed that she, Jinbe, and Benihimo once told each other that even if Yousuke could no longer see them, they will continue to protect him. She stated that the reason why the two familiars can't come inside is because Tsukiko placed some talismans in the house while the two were outside. Since they are not very smart, Jinbe and Benihimo believed that their master has set up a barrier to get rid of them. Shuuichi then startled both Yousuke and Tsukiko when he came into a conclusion that they want to bring disaster in the house out of revenge. He asked if the two will stop their rampage once the talismans were taken down but Ginro answered that it is already too late as the hearts of those two have been changed and there's no telling what they will do if they come inside the house. However, if they are released, perhaps they will be back to normal at some point. She then asked them not to tell this to Tsukiko as she might blame herself afterwards for setting up the barrier. When Yousuke asked if there is someone in the room, she gestured them to be silent but Takashi stood up and told him that there is. He told Yousuke that she's extremely worried about him and she's trying to protect the house just like how Tsukiko is trying to protect him. He asked if he knows the Ritual of Release and told him that he is capable of performing it.

Upon learning the rules and consequences of the said ritual, Takashi and Shuuichi went outside to execute it. They asked both Jinbe and Benihimo to enter the magic circle to free them from their duties as familiars. Believing that this is Yousuke's last wish for them, they went inside the circle and became free. They said that it would be sad if they couldn't talk to their master anymore so they decided to leave. Later on, Takashi saw Ginro expressing her gratitude for helping her master and his daughter. Nyanko-sensei stated that it seems like she will stay in the house for the rest of Yousuke's life and that she is a weird woman for being like that. She was last seen watching Yousuke with tender eyes as he puts down his eyeglasses. Her master called her name once again and said that the time he spent with her, Jinbe, and Benihimo was a lot of fun.
