"Fragments of Dreams" is a Original Video Animation of the Natsume Yuujinchou anime on the DVD for the sixth season. It was released on the fifth Blu-ray/DVD compilation volume on October 25, 2017.
Summary[]
A middle schooler named Tamami is on a journey to find a mysterious talking white owl whose ring she wants to return. She gets help from a talking calico cat and his human "servant" who lead her through the mysterious forest, in which she catches glimpses of scary-looking creatures. Will she be able to finish what she started with these new friends and wonders?
Natsume has come to said woods to return the name of its protector, whom Tamami is seeking. He is somewhat shocked to learn that humans who stray into his woods are to have their recollections erased. Tamani awakens on a bench and leaves with a fragment of the ring's stone as Natsume and Nyanko-Sensei look on.

- Natsume Reiko did not appear in the Special 16 but is mentioned throughout, as is her interactions with the shapeshifting ayakashi of the forest.
- Hakuhi's name from the Book of Friends is not revealed as Natsume Takashi returns it.
Trivia[]
- A short video depicting a poster for the much-awaited seventh season (Nastume Yujinchou Shichi) has officially been confirmed and is presently in production; in early 2024. It will air in fall.
