It is a youkai that tried to ambush attack Natsume while he was searching for Karikami together with Yobiko.

It was this youkai that gave Yobiko idea to kidnap Natsume to be his bait to call Karikami out. Yobiko reasoned that every youkai that knew Natsume holding the Book of Friends would be interested to find Natsume.
The black youkai with sickle was then defeated by Nyanko-sensei.
