Aiko (愛子), known as Ai,, is childhood friend of Sacchan.

Ai was the last person, before Natsume, who was able to see the Suzunaru tree youkai. Still a child, she had made a promise to the youkai to bring along her friend as well (once she recovered) to meet the youkai.
However, she couldn't complete this promise because she died in a horrible accident soon after.

Etymology[]
- The name Aiko means "love, affection" (愛) (ai) and "child" (子) (ko).
